What if we could share and discuss music we loved within Spotify?
I really dislike algorithm-driven record recommendations for a number of reasons:
I rarely like the music I'm being recommended.
The context of the music, which I find very important, is not communicated.
A dehumanized experience of music discovery lacks a layer of meaning and relevance that I believe is important.
I want music recommendations from people whose taste and opinions I respect, and it would be great if that coexisted with my listening platform.
Spotify already has the ability to follow people and artists, but there's no experience that corresponds with what we want and expect from "following" people online.
As a personal exercise I experimented with what that might look like.
